TOP HUNGARIAN STYLISTS VISIT WORLD HAIRSTYLE
CAPITAL
04-08-2005 13:40
This year between Oct 22-24 the global spotlights will once again
focus on the City of London, the hairstyling capital of the world.
At least 300 Hungarian top hairstylists and salon owners will be
present at this year's Salon International, also known as the world’s
top hairdressing and hairstyling exhibitions, hosted at EXCEL,
Docklands in London.
One of Hungary’s most acclaimed
hairstylists Tamas Zsidro said that he has been visiting the
London scene since 1983. “London
is tops when it comes to hair fashion,” he said, explaining
that the London style is technically and innovation-wise the best
in the world. “The French and Italians are lagging behind
because
their hairstyles are a bit more robust and heavy,” he added.
Zsidro
emphasised that Hungarian ladies are very fortunate that their
hair is gentle and thin, just like that of the British ladies’.
“If you are a hairstylist and want to stay trendy in Europe
you must go to London,” he said, explaining that annually about
300
of Hungary’s leading hairstylists visit the London events,
despite the fact that costs are high. “The hairstyling shows can
each
cost GBP 80 per person with ongoing shows all day, not to
mention the
seminars,” he said. Zsidro said that for career-starters he
proposes participation special hairstyling sessions 8-10 times
a year
at academies like the L’ORÉAL Academy in Budapest. Currently
the so-called
Rockmantic (long hair) is the trend for this fall/winter fashion.
Zsidro is also an accredited Hungarian hairstyle journalist.
Adina Csoka, hairstylist at Lestyan Salon, another one of Budapest's
trendy hair-do shops confirmed, "Each year hundreds of Hungarian
salon owners and top hairstylists visit London, which has for quite
some time been the centre of European trends.” She added that visitors
like Zsidro collect and make videos of the latest styles to bring
back and show the Hungarian hairstyle industry and their friends. "Hungarians
are most wild about trends set by Vidal Sassoon and Tony & Guy," she
said. Csoka added that the Russian stylists are also fast
gaining ground in Europe.
She said that while London is a dictator of fashion in hairstyling,
on the contrary the British are not really obsessed with
their hair-do while in Hungary the Magyars are more conscious
about
getting the right style in the right season and generally
refuse to neglect
their hair-dress. "The hairstyle business is a seasonal one
just like the fashion industry and Hungarian clients at salons
are constantly asking for hairstyle magazines from which to choose
their latest do," said Csoka. While in Hungary a complete
hair-do and sit-in at the salon may fetch say HUF 12,000 including
tax and tips, in western Europe the same do could fetch four-fold
this amount. Earlier this year Csoka's hair salon participated
in a Wella competition where she performed exceptionally well with
her "Egyptian" hairstyling technique.
